Fisher's son-in-law may try to unseat Stabenow - March 16, Detroit Free Press
Cummings, a real estate developer and philanthropist from Bloomfield Township, may be best known as the son-in-law of the late icon Max Fisher, who died earlier this month.
Though unknown to most of Michigan, Cummings' personal wealth and connections make him a serious contender should he decide to get into the race.
Cummings declined comment on his possible candidacy until he makes a decision, which could be within a few weeks.
But it's clear he's sounding out key Republicans.
An Interview with Keith Butler - March 11, MIRS News (subscription required, trial subscription available on the website)
Excerpts from the article:
Q. What would make you a good candidate?
A. I have proven that African Americans will vote for me in Detroit. We see that Sen. Bill HARDIMAN (R-Grand Rapids) also received one-third of the African American votes (in Grand Rapids), so now we have two places where an African American, who happens to be Republican, has received significant amounts of African American votes.
I have a record of having fed thousands of poor people and clothed thousands of poor people. I helped educated their kids. I've really cared. They know I care. I listen to their issues and I understand them. That's why I received the 105,000 votes in Detroit, that's 43 percent, in an 18-candidate field.
That's one of the problems that Debbie Stabenow is going to have with me. In order for Democrats to win in this state, they usually have to get about 90 percent of the Detroit vote. I'm here to tell, they're not going to get it with me running.
A Courtship Worth Watching - US News and World Report
Black conservatives--and disaffected black Democrats--are preparing a major push to convince African-Americans, first, that they've been taken for granted by Democrats and, second, that the Republican Party might be worth another look, especially if the GOP more directly addresses issues of concern to blacks. It's an effort ... partisans on both sides believe it could pay real dividends.

It seems as though Jennifer Granholm thinks she's always at a masquerade ball. She's constantly trying to mask and cover-up everything she can, from her severe lack of leadership to her love-affair with raising taxes.
Chairman Anuzis sounded the horn on this massive tax-hike on Michigan's business and families the day the governor put it forth. Now Coalition for Tax Relief and Jobs has joined the fight, launching a website all about the governor's massive "tax shift and shaft."
We must stop Granholm from continuing to harm our state. Visit http://www.stoptheshiftshaft.com to learn more about her latest attempt.
